How to make black bean rice:

Start the preparation of your rice with black beans by putting the oil, the minced garlic cloves and bay leaves in a pan and let it cook.

Add rice and cooked black beans and their syrup, if using tinned beans. Add water, season with salt and cook over low heat.

After about 20 minutes, uncap and stir with a fork. If you notice that the rice is still slightly raw, add a little water and let it cook for a while longer. Check the flavor with salt.
